Abstract
The purpose of this research study is to examine the effects of employee stock ownership plans on employee engagement within the banking sector, specifically add equity bank. The objective of this study is to find out what impact financial incentives, training and educating employees on ESOP and management commitment on implementation of employee stock ownership plans has on employee engagement. A descriptive research design has been employed in conducting this study and to address the research questions. A quantitative approach was used to collect the data and the study comprised of employees in senior, mid management and operational levels at equity bank. The study utilized Microsoft Excel for the data analysis. The dependent variable is employee engagement and the independent variable is Employee Stock Ownership Plans. An ESOP is used to improve corporate culture, increase employee engagement, and provide additional retirement benefits to hardworking employees. They can also be an effective strategy for attracting and keeping top talent (Galvin, 2021).
