The linkages between the two concepts have evolved over the last few decades to eventually exhibit a certain convergence. The rise of the concept of human security has also, by its very nature, implied closer links to development. Examining structural violence and human needs, linkages between these two concepts can be explored and policy implications suggested for the security-development nexus
